GNC Live Well Quarry

1720 New Brighton Blvd, Minneapolis

As an elite level athlete in Mixed Martial Arts, Kazim Khan knows the value of discipline, hard work and a healthy attitude. After working for GNC as a store manager for five years, Kazim was ready to make a bold move — starting his own Franchise GNC store. Backed by the knowledge of managing a highly successful store, he took the leap with the help of Granite Bank. Over five months into the journey, the store has already increased volume by 20% and is showing strong fiscal growth.

According to Kazim, “We base our success on our ability to help our customers achieve their health and fitness goals.  We try and separate ourselves from the competition by having exceptional knowledge of our supplements and give our expertise to help customers see the results they need. Most of all, our staff cares about our customers and it has been so rewarding hearing positive feedback and successes stories from customers.”

Kazim’s Passion shows through the performance of the store, as well as his ability to stay on top of products trends. “it is interesting to listen to the customer and their needs, and be able to find a solution for them, no matter if they are into general health, weight loss, or strength training.”

Finding Granite Bank through an online search for business financing for SBA loan services, Kazim feels very fortunate to have found a great fit with Granite Bank and their elite level of service. Kazim was very complimentary about how Derek Soppeland and Maple Bank “go out of the way to help me be successful.”

Business Spotlight montage - Moffitt Dentistry. A business built on restoring smiles & changing lives. Owner Andrew Moffitt

Moffitt Restorative Dentistry

502 Jefferson Highway N, Champlin, MN 55316

After being “implanted” in Minnesota after growing up on the West Coast, Andrew Moffitt’s dentistry business has gained tremendous respect in the northern suburbs. They are one of the leading restorative practices in the area, focusing on replacing broken or missing teeth, and cosmetic smile restoration. With dentistry in his family (father and brothers have dental practices), Andrew started his business in 2005 and has been growing steadily ever since. From his single location in Champlin, he has great team.  Together they connect with patients and change lives.

According to Andrew, “My favorite part of having a small business is the patient interaction.  Changing a smile can bring so much joy. I am honored to have the trust of our referring dentists and oral surgeons and also very honored that our patients refer their friends and family to our office.”

It is very apparent that Andrew puts his money where his mouth is, when it comes to giving back. Each year, he travels on mission trips to needy areas of Central America. He also lectures on the latest technology in the prosthodontic industry.

Andrew was clear from the beginning that he wanted to stay with a local community bank, and started a banking relationship with Granite Bank in 2005. He describes the relationship as “wonderful” and appreciates the leadership, attention to detail, and the staff who knows him by name.

Granite Bank invites you to contact Andrew and his team for a smile that can last a lifetime!

Business Spotlight montage - Pro Plate Metal Coating. Engineering small part into a big business success. Owner Craig Ingalls

2625 9th Ave N, Anoka, MN 55303

When it comes to a fast-paced plating business, Proplate is leading the field in engineering solutions.  That was the vision of Craig Ingalls when he bought the business 22 years ago.  With entrepreneurship in his family and a mechanical engineering background, Craig found the perfect business with Proplate and has been a catalyst for its’ steady growth.  From their production facility in Anoka, they now employ 28 people in coating micro parts for the medical industry as well as other niche markets.

As parts get smaller and smaller to fit the needs of technology, the business has grown larger and larger, thanks to their acclaimed engineering staff and fast turnaround with every job being done in less than five days. They have even developed parts for NASA, using exotic metals to fit even the most narrow product offering.

Along the way, they have been recognized and become highly acclaimed for their quality and performance. They specialize in providing hard-to-find solutions, and businesses are finding them through their website.

Craig was introduced to Granite Bank six years ago, and really enjoys the Bank’s ability to work with small businesses. “I like being recognized as an individual and not just a digit. They see value in the human being behind the paper, and appreciate their support for entrepreneurs,” he said.

Granite Bank invites you to contact Craig and Proplate for custom-engineered solutions for small devices!

Business Spotlight montage - TCT Gymnastics. Turning a gymnastics business into a high flying success. Owner Mike Hunger.

Twin City Twisters

Champlin and Brooklyn Park

After spending time in the business world, Mike Hunger realized he didn’t want a conventional job. He followed his passion for gymnastics and in 1987 created Twin City Twisters and has been coaching for the last 40 years. He has grown the business to two locations in Champlin and Brooklyn Park, and has between 1,000 to 1,200 students on a yearly basis.  He has had great success due to building an amazing, high caliber coaching staff and great administrative help.

The difference at TCT is quite evident: Mike is passionate about helping create good people instead of just good athletes.  His quality staff and coaches truly embody Mike’s vision to help learn life lessons through gymnastics and to give every child a good experience. With that kind of positive energy, performance can’t help but follow suit. TCT has been the top gym in the Twin Cities for the last decade or more, with teams winning 30 of the last 32 state championships.

Mike has had a great experience himself by being a customer of Granite Bank. He originally made his choice because of the convenient location but quickly learned that there was great value in partnering with a community bank that is so friendly, responsive, and easy to work with.

Granite Bank invites you to contact Mike and Twin City Twisters to give your young ones a quality athletic experience!

Business Spotlight montage - Astound Video. Making photo/video preservation a lasting business. Owner Stephen Maas.

Astound Video Duplication and Transfer

Roseville and four other locations

Every business has a unique starting point, and Stephen Maas started his business right in his bedroom!  In 2004 he evolved his business to move into his first office, and that led to five storefront locations to serve the media transfer needs of customers.  His locations have over 15 employees, highly skilled at converting precious memories on video tape, slides and 8mm film to timeless digital storage to preserve for generations.

As Stephen says, “Time is not the friend of any photos, tapes and films before they are lost forever.”  Astound has been increasing their business every year as people become more aware of the importance of media transfer.  Fueled by people who are downsizing and storing files digitally instead of the physical, this trend will continue to expand. Stephen has found that customers really enjoy a physical location to bring their precious materials, instead of risking the shipment of these things to online places which may not even provide good quality preservation.

Stephen came across Granite Bank in 2012 through a connection of one of his staff members, and has been pleased ever since. “The thing I like the most is that Derek and Granite Bank have the willingness to show up and invest their energy into relationships. They keep the finger on the pulse of their clients, and really get to know our business. In this business it can be frustrating to get financing, but Granite Bank was able to see the value which has given us the ability to keep evolving and helping people.”

Granite Bank invites you to contact Astound for preserving your precious memories!

According to Melanie, “Immediately I knew they were different from any bank I had ever worked with. Tony talked to me like I was a real person and not just a number.  So many banks look at just the numbers and they don’t see the layers of what the business actually is and/or could be. Granite Bank and Tony were a Godsend, not only did they make the biggest purchase of my life stress free, our purchase positioned us for growth and we were able to double our business in a little over one year.”
